Definition of Physical: relating to the body as opposed to the mind.

Definition of Ability: possession of the means or skill to do something.

At AOSB you will be assessed on your physical ability on different events:

  • Fitness assessment

  • Team and Personal Obstacle Courses

  • Command Tasks

Fittness Assessment

At AOSB you undergo a fitness assessment. You are required to meet the following standards:

8.7 Multi Stage Fitness Test (Bleep Test)

4kg Medicine Ball Throw 3.1m

76kg Mid- Thigh Pull

Obstacle Course and Command Tasks

At AOSB you will be assessed on your ability through a individual and group obstacle course.

Briefing

At Briefing you will undertake a personal obstacle course that comprises of:

  • Hurdles (x2)

  • Long Jump

  • Raised Step Log Carry

  • 8ft Wall

  • Rope Swing

Main Board

The personal Obstacle course at Mainboard:

  • Rope Swing

  • Long Jrump

  • Hurdles (x2)

  • Rope Clime to Platform

  • Ammunition Box Tunnel

  • Raised Step Long Carry

  • 8ft Wall

Below are two videos which will help give you the skills needed to get though some of the more technical obstacles. Some of the command tasks also require you to climb walls and even ropes, so proficiency in these skills is a must!

It is free and available on both Android and IOS, you can also talk to your unit PTI.

To be blunt, do not go to AOSB until you can achieve the required fitness standards. You are wasting your time and theirs, and at best you will come away from briefing with a 3 month delay.
